Our Promise, A Student’s Adventure
A Little Green Thumbs garden is more than the sum of it’s parts. A classroom garden is an extension of a traditional classroom and provides fertile ground for inquiry-based, cross-curricular and hands-on learning.
Our classroom-based indoor gardening program creates dynamic learning opportunities for students across Canada by supporting them to grow food in their own learning environments, and helping educators to connect their garden-based learning to their required curriculum.
While students cooperate to care for their garden they explore nutrition, environmental stewardship, sustainable food systems and the relationships between them. In the 2016-17 school year, over 13,800 students were actively engaged growing Little Green Thumbs gardens!
